Taking The Guesswork Out of Your Massage Session
Have you ever looked at a massage menu and thought, “Okay, but which one do I actually need?”
Should you book a Swedish? Deep Tissue? Something thats only neck and shoulders? But you also want attention on your feet? Maybe you only want Refelxology?
It can feel like you need to know exactly what you want or you need to know exactly what’s wrong with your body before even clicking the “Book Now” button.
I don’t believe you should have to.
Your body is one of a kind, so should your massage.
Rather than offering a laundry list of different options and modalities, I wanted to keep things simple: my sessions are booked by time frame and are customized to your body and your needs.
Everyone I’ve ever had walk into my treatment room has something different. Maybe you’re sitting at a desk all day, your head feels heavy, shoulders are glued to your ears and there’s an ache in your back from your crappy computer chair. Maybe you’re religious and vigorous with your workout routine and your ligaments need some focus work. Or maybe you simple just need to step away from the noise of the world and need a place to slow down with some deep breathing exercises.
Sometimes it’s a little bit of everything - and that’s where I come in.
Relaxation and deeper work can coexist
Massage doesn’t have to simply be relaxing or deep and you don’t have to choose because your body may benefit from the best of both worlds.
We may spend some of your massage using slower, more relaxing techniques to help your nervous system settle while incorporating deeper, more focused work on the areas that feel particularly tense or restricted. Some areas may need more focus, deeper work while others need slow, gentle pressure and sometimes your body just needs to be given permission to relax. The goal is to use techniques that make the most sense for your body that day.
Your body gets a say too
I don’t plan your entire massage before you arrive then simply carry it out.
Every session starts with a conversation - I’ll start by asking how your feeling, any pain you’ve been experiencing, areas you’d like to focus on and what you’re hoping to get out of our session together. This way, we’re creating a plan together.
And that plan could change.
You’ll often hear me say “Every muscle is connected, bro” and that’s because its true. You could come in experiencing discomfort and pain in your neck, but when I get you on the table, I may discover that your shoulder and chest muscles are constricted which is causing you to feel pain in your neck. So if something feels different on the table, we can adjust. Or maybe you’ve been having a really off week and deep pressure just isn’t feeling right, we can back off. You don’t have to come in knowing exactly what your body needs and thats okay.
That’s all part of the process.
Your massage is time dedicated to you
Instead of trying to decide which massage category fits you best, think about what you need today.
Do you need to relax?
Do you have areas that feel particularly tight and constricted?
Are you feeling stressed and simply need time to slow down?
You don’t need the perfect answers - you just need to come as you are
I’ll help take all the extra guesswork out.
